Montreal

The same architect who designed the Empire State building in NY, created this structure in Montreal first. Basically a copy 5 times larger in every scale is the Empire State Building in NYC.

Doesn't this cathedral look so close to Westminster Abbey in London? Tons of similar places are all over Montreal that have European counterparts. There is even a bridge designed by Eiffel, who has mini Eiffel towers on the peaks of the bridge.

This was a unique way to see the city, it was an Amphibious tour, it was a bus at first then converted to a boat. It basically drove into the river and then started it's engines. Weird!

The cobblestone streets of Old Montreal keep the European feel throughout the city.

The colorful building is a modern convention center, and this fountain "caught fire" every hour on the hour. It was really neat.

So Schwartz's smoked meats is like the Carnegie Deli of NY. It is the place to go and it is packed. Really great corned beef is served family style and you sit with other families in this packed deli. The smoked meats are great and it was really yummy. If you are ever in Montreal this is a must do!

So, Montreal is the birthplace of one of my favorite things I discovered! Cirque de Soleil!!! There is a huge tent right on the river and apparently Montreal gets to sample each show before it hits the road. Ovo was the show there on the river, but I did not get time to see it. I guess this is reason to return to Montreal!

The Old Montreal part of the city had some beautiful scenes, fountains, monuments, and gardens. Here are a few I found.

So my thoughts on Montreal is that they just want to make Paris somewhere on this side of the world. They have the wine, the cheese, the chocolate and the fabulous bread. It seriously was just like being in France. Amazing!

I went for work so I didn't get much time to sight see but as you see I had a few hours of free time to get a taste of the city!

Alisa comes to KY and Maggiano's!

So my sister came to KY, sans kids, for a weekend to hang out, shop, make scones, eat at Maggiano's and drive to central Ohio for some retail therapy! We had a good time and the best part was watching her have to sit on her suitcase to get it to shut! Ha!

Louisville with Jenn and the PEO's!

So Jenn came over from Asheville, NC to go with me to Louisville for a PEO convention! It was a great "Girly Weekend" that went off without a hitch...except getting lost in the ghetto of Louisville, going to the weird "Bodies in Motion" exhibit full of real dead people, eating about 5000 calories at breakfast and dinner at Lynn's Paradise Cafe (totally amazing grub), laying out by the pool and listening to traffic at the Galt House, and trying to hunt for a parking space. :)
Since Nathan was in California, Jenn was my date for the weekend. We had alot of fun just being our weird selves in one of my new favorite places in KY, Louisville!

This was Lucy after we got home...we snuck up on her napping on the porch! Aaron was our Lucysitter for the weekend! :)
